Ricky,
SPIERWEBS: You should check out SPIDERWEB SPRAY. Look for the professional movie stuff. Once you get good at it, it looks WAAAAAAAAY better, is WAAAAAAAAY faster, but don’t put it on stuff you care about. PERFECT FOR STUFF YOU BUY.
GLASS: broken glass in your haunted house is kinda’ unkind to your visitors. Remove all the glass COMPLETELY, buy yourself a $10-15 piece of plexi, break it into a bunch of pieces and reuse EVERY year.
AGING: Get some poster paint pigment, browns, blacks
and a red. Get a few generic windex style spray bottles, mix up some pigments and spray it on your props. Let it dry and layer it on. You can also add dust (which is available as FULLERS EARTH, a product you can find if you look online). Fullers earth can be spread by a fan and covers everything in dust like it is ancient.
Also, try spraypaint. It is cheap for effect. Always buy FAST DRYING.
If you do aging and spraypainting, you will find you dont need to break the glass at ALL!
If you think I am just being a pain, check out some of my vids, I work in Hollywood building and maintaining sets for film, videos, and commercials. I’m trying to give you easy, cheap, simple advice that goes far for very little cash and labor.
Thank you very much! I did look up Fuller’s Earth to see where to get it. Couldn’t quite find it.
Anyway, as for the plexi glass, I know that already. The only actual broken glass is in picture frames, which are hung way above the guest’s heads. It’s all glued in securely.
Plexiglass is good to put on the ground and against windows etc. Hollywood stage glass is also great for that.
The cobweb spray guns are expensive for me. And at night, everything truly does look the same.
Especially, it all looks the same when guests are too scared to stop and take in the setting around them (which happens). Generic cotton web is about $1 a bag and quick to use and set up. Literally takes only about 3 minutes.
The cobweb spray I have seen is much more expensive and time consuming.
I do really like the spray bottle idea. We have done that with blood in the past. It truly is fantastic, no?
I’ve found that much easier and faster is to buy “spray blood”. Its about $4.99 and better for costumes and skin. It sprays, splatters, drips etc. It’s truly amazing stuff! The only thing is, it fades over time. So, just get some more and cover it.
Once again, at night when you’re frightened, everything looks the same.
There surely are a lot better ways to do things than I’ve done. However, this is the way I do it and I’ve done it for years and years.
In no way are you being a pain, and I highly appreciate the help! It’s just this is the way I do it… I’m not a set-builder nor ever will be. A lot of stuff I have no experience with or access too (which is why I do it this way).
I would have just appreciated you private messaging me the what to dos and what not to does rather than on my video. Kinda sends that “you did it all wrong” message. =P
Anyway, if there are any other cool tips you have, I definitely want to know! Keep in touch.

very spooky cool.
That’s going to be fun! I did this one year.
Place thick cardboard behind glass so that it won’t shatter so much.
I really don’t mind the shattered glass though. I take the long big pieces and glue them to the inside of the frame. It looks pretty natural.
